Frequently Asked Questions

Do you guarantee dolphin and whale sightings?

The wild dolphins and whales we interact with are free beings so we cannot guarantee encounters, however we do have contact approximately 95% or more of the time.

We are fortunate along the Kona coast to have several resident Spinner dolphin pods of 100-300 dolphins. These dolphins are found swimming close to shore early in the morning where they play, rest and socialize. We will go by boat to the areas where they are most often found and consistently we are able to find them.

When time allows, we may also seek out bottlenose dolphins, spotted dolphins, pilot whales and humpback whales all of which are periodically in the area. Finding these other cetaceans is a bonus, but many times we are lucky enough to find them!

Will we be harming the dolphins?

We swim with dolphins respectfully.   You will be briefed on important safety procedures to follow and how to interact with the dolphins in a safe and unobtrusive way.

What should we bring on the boat?

Swim attire, Sunscreen, Hat, Towel, Sunglasses, Light jacket/sweatshirt, Snorkel gear (if you have your own), Camera.

Can children swim with the dolphins?

Yes, children as young as 4 years old can swim with the dolphin.  We have qualified swim assistants to be with your child in the water and flotation devices. Workshop participants must be 18 or older.
